900 Days: Crosses
This work is drawn from a series of over 1000 small autonomic drawings made in professional and personal notebooks and journals over the course of two plus years between 2017 and 2020.
The small drawings themselves were never intended to be used for finished art -- but instead grew organically from notebook sketches and colorings. The individual pieces are referential to traditional scapular though no formal link is intended.
Autobiographical and deeply personal, the work explores the notions of betrayal, persecution, resurrection, rebirth and reconnection to the forces of the universe and spirituality that are metaphorically and traditionally connected to the image of a cross.
