PEACE, HOPE, TRUTH & BEAUTY

This four panel painting with fluorescent light boxes continues the thread of exploration of anonymous people on the Internet while probing themes of race, military culture, use of gender in propaganda and the potential significant change to global security and international structure norms.

Like the earlier pieces it extrapolates controlled images, with the clear purpose for propaganda and transforms them into a different statement through changes in the medium, context and language applied.

The four images presented in this piece were based on official video images appropriated via the Internet of the People’s Liberation Army Militia during  the January 2010 Chinese Military Parade passing through Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China.

The paintings are done on hardboard using traditional oils and framed with white military belt webbing.
